About Cradle & Compass

Cradle & Compass is an independent editorial site about pregnancy, birth and the first year in North Texas. It reports on how practical support actually works in Dallas, Fort Worth and the surrounding counties: prenatal care and pregnancy Medicaid, WIC, food pantries, housing help, baby supplies, adoption, rights at work, perinatal mental health and the volunteer networks that carry families through the first months.

The site is written for expectant and new mothers who need help, for the relatives and friends trying to help them, and for the volunteers, nurses and social workers who refer them. Coverage is organised into four sections:

• Food, Housing and Baby Basics
• After Birth and the First Year
• Rights, Options and Local Networks

Every article is written in the third person and built from public sources, which are named in the article itself. Organisations are described from their own published documents, public records and reporting by others. No person is named unless that person is named in a public source.

The site sells nothing and carries no advertising. It is not the voice of any organisation, agency or clinic. Where a fact could not be confirmed in a public source, the article says so instead of filling the gap.

Each text states its own limits: what it covers, what it leaves out, and what a reader should confirm directly with the office, clinic or program involved. Eligibility rules, hours and waiting lists change, so the articles point to the office or program that can give a current answer.
